Virtual Academy Parent/Guardian Expectations
The parent/guardian agrees to support the student’s academic success in the virtual learning environment by fulfilling the following expectations:
Academic Support & Engagement
• Ensure the student attends virtual classes daily and is engaged during scheduled live sessions.
• Encourage the student to complete and submit all assignments on time.
• Provide a quiet and consistent workspace that is free from distractions.
Technology & Communication
• Ensure the student has access to a functioning Chromebook or appropriate device and internet connection.
• Communicate regularly with the student’s teachers, counselor, and school staff via email, phone, or messaging tools.
• Report any technical issues or barriers to learning in a timely manner.
Attendance & Participation
• Ensure the student follows the daily virtual schedule and logs in on time.
• Understand that the student’s attendance will be monitored and that excessive absences may result in truancy proceedings.
• Notify the school if the student will be absent due to illness or emergency.
Monitoring Progress
• Review the student’s progress regularly through the learning platform and/or gradebook.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences and other scheduled virtual meetings to discuss the student’s progress and needs.
Parent Involvement
• Support school-wide events and encourage the student’s participation in enrichment opportunities such as clubs, tutoring, or special programs.
• Partner with school staff to resolve any academic, behavioral, or social-emotional concerns.
